My Story
I've always been fascinated by what drives people to think, behave and perform the way they do. That curiosity has shaped my career and continues to influence how I work today.
For over 18 years, I've partnered with organisations to strengthen leadership, develop teams and build workplaces where people and organisations can thrive. My experience spans leadership development, organisational psychology, executive coaching and organisational consultancy across corporate, public and not-for-profit sectors.
Before establishing Nicola Butcher Psychology, I held learning, leadership development and consulting roles with organisations including Deutsche Bank, IBM and Ofcom. At Deutsche Bank, I led learning and leadership development across the UK and EMEA Corporate Finance division, supporting more than 2,000 bankers. Throughout my career, I've designed and delivered leadership programmes, facilitated team development, assessed leadership potential and coached leaders from emerging talent through to executive and director level.
Alongside my consulting work, I became increasingly interested in understanding not just what people do, but why they do it. This led me to deepen my expertise through psychology, progressing from undergraduate and postgraduate study to becoming a Chartered Organisational Psychologist. Later, I completed an Executive Coaching Diploma and became an ICF Accredited Leadership Coach, and then also study to becoming a Chartered Coaching Psychologist.
Today, I bring these disciplines together to help organisations understand what is really driving behaviour, performance and culture. Whether coaching an individual leader, facilitating a leadership team or partnering with HR and L&D to shape organisational development, my approach is grounded in curiosity, psychological insight and evidence-based practice.
Clients often describe me as someone who quickly gets beneath the surface, asks thoughtful questions and creates a balance of support and challenge that enables meaningful, sustainable change.
Outside work, you'll usually find me spending time with my young family, walking, enjoying good food or ballroom dancing.
If you're looking for a thoughtful partner to strengthen leadership, teams or organisational capability, I'd love to hear from you.
